PETALING JAYA (April 29): A man who lost his job last month and later chased out of a staff hostel was forced to walk more than 400km to get back home as there were no buses available due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), according to a Sinchew Daily report.

The man named Matnoe Poksu Din, who is in his twenties, was working in one of the factories in Shah Alam, Selangor when he was laid off during the MCO.

In his Facebook posting, Matnoe said he intended to take a bus to go back to his hometown in Kampung Lawang in Tanah Merah, Kelantan on Sunday night but was not able to acquire a bus ticket in Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) bus terminal.

Seeing no other options available, the jobless man who could not afford the room rental and cost of living in Klang Valley decided to walk back to his hometown even it was expected to take him almost four days.

He began to share about his journey of walking back to Kelantan on April 26. Halfway through the journey, he met some kind-hearted drivers who offered him a ride.

A firefighter who saw him on the highway in Ipoh gave him a lift to Gerik. Later, he got a ride from a lorry transporting chicken. Finally, he arrived at home at 11pm last night.

The man shared that he plans to go for infection checking at a hospital, and would accept quarantine if necessary.
