KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): Saudi Arabia will enforce a 24-hour curfew plus total lockdown from May 23 to May 27 throughout the whole country, the Saudi Gazette reported yesterday.

This will coincide with the Eid Al-Fitr holidays celebrated by Muslims all over the world.

There will, however, be a “partial curfew relaxation” from 9am to 5pm for all cities and region, with the exception of Makkah city, during this period.

The Saudi authorities have also issued “directives” about social distancing, with a ban on gatherings of more than five people.

The kingdom’s Ministry of Interior stated that “permission for economic and commercial activities that are exempted from previous decisions, and those referred to in the royal order issued on April 25 will continue”.
