PETALING JAYA (May 21): 1 Utama Shopping Centre has come up with the 1 Utama Health QR app featuring QR code technology, The Star reported today.

“It aims to assist the government with contact tracing and complies with all the standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry,” Bandar Utama City Centre Sdn Bhd operations general manager Samantha Lee, told the daily.

“The Health QR has also been rolled out across all 12 commercial properties under the Bandar Utama group, with each property having its own unique code,” Lee explained.

The 1 Utama Health QR app was introduced on May 4 first to 1 Utama’s management company employees, followed by tenants and then shoppers and vendors on May 7.

According to the 1 Utama Facebook, the process is simple enough:

1 Download 1 Utama's Mobile App

2 Scan the Health QR Code at the mall entrances

3 Get your temperature checked

4 Fill up the online health declaration form

5 Receive a Green QR Code

6 Enter any shop in 1 Utama by showing the Green QR code to the staff

“If a person receives a red QR code, the security guard will check their temperature again. Those who get the red status twice will be advised to seek medical attention,” Lee added.

She also assured members of the public that the Health QR was in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

“The data is stored inside our server and can be accessed only by the mall management, not the tenants,” she explained to The Star.

Lee said the app also helps with crowd management since shoppers now need not queue up to fill up forms.

“It’s like having an entry pass to shop with peace of mind. The QR code can be used by almost everyone as most people have smartphones. Those without smartphones or QR code readers can write down their details manually,” she added.
