KUALA LUMPUR (May 22): US President Donald Trump (pictured) has confirmed yesterday that “we are not closing our country” even if it suffers a second wave of Covid-19 coronavirus infections, CNBC reported yesterday.

“We are going to put out the fires. We’re not going to close the country.

“We can put out the fires. Whether it is an ember or a flame, we are going to put it out. But we are not closing our country,” Trump told the media when asked about a second wave while visiting a Ford factory in Michigan.

US health officials have consistently warned that the prospect of a second wave of coronavirus infections “is high” and will most likely arrive during the flu season which starts in late autumn and early winter

They say it may “again threaten to overwhelm the country’s health-care system”.

CNBC also reported that all the US states have embarked on “some level of reopening” of their economies “even as cases continue to rise in some parts of the country”.
