PETALING JAYA (June 11): Malaysian Chinese singer Michael Wong Kong Leong has purchased a 4-acre agricultural land in Ipoh, Perak, for about RM720,000 (TWD 5 million), according to Taiwan’s United Daily News.

The report said the tract is about 45 minutes’ drive from Wong’s hometown in Ipoh. He planned to turn the land into a recreational resort called “DreamWood”, where people could relax and enjoy nature's beauty as well as offering a place for retirement healthcare.

Being an environmentalist, Wong also insisted the resort development should prioritise preserving nature and to be constructed in a way that “no one tree to be cut off”. He has found an architect who upholds the same philosophy to design the resort.

“I am concerned about the overdevelopment and the impact to mother earth. I decided to own the land as the land owner told me that the trees could be saved if I buy the land. Who knows, maybe in the future, I can have my concert in DreamWood,” said the singer.
