Hilltop Genting casino to resume operations this Friday

KUALA LUMPUR (June 18): Genting Malaysia Bhd's (GENM) hilltop casino will resume operations this Friday (June 19) after being shut for three months since March 18 due to the Movement Control Order (MCO).

According to a statement yesterday, the Resorts World Genting (RWG) will reopen at 10am on Friday with enhanced safety measures in place to ensure the health and safety of all its guests and employees.

However, due to limited capacity, GENM said entry to SkyCasino in SkyAvenue and Genting Club in Genting Grand Hotel will be only for Genting Rewards members, adding that public entry into the casino will resume as soon as possible.

The Awana Skyway cable car and Genting express buses will also resume operations, said GENM.

“RWG has re-engineered its processes and developed a comprehensive safety plan in line with the government’s guidelines and global best practices. The RWG StaySafe Promise, which outlines RWG’s enhanced safety plan for the resort, includes protocols that cover social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes, as well as the deployment of service ambassadors among others.

“Service ambassadors are specially trained customer-facing employees who will assist and guide returning guests on the resort’s enhanced safety measures,” it added.

Moreover, RWG has implemented MySejahtera Check-In at all its primary entrances and outlets throughout the resort. Thus, guests are encouraged to download and register the MySejahtera application prior to their visit to RWG for convenient access to the resort’s premises.

On Wednesday, GENM had announced that the casino and hotel operator's Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi are set to reopen tomorrow (June 18).

Shares of GENM closed 14 sen or 5.38% higher to settle at RM2.74 yesterday, while its parent Genting Bhd closed up 17 sen or 3.93% at RM4.50.

GENM’s market capitalisation stood at RM15.49 billion while Genting was valued at RM17.33 billion.
