KUALA LUMPUR (June 23): The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced three new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases today, two of which involve foreigners, together with nine recoveries and no new deaths.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases detected in the country to 8,590, with the number of active cases declining to 283 as recoveries continue to outpace new infections. Total recoveries now stands at 8,186, representing a recovery rate of 95.3%, according to health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

No new fatalities were recorded, which means the total death toll from the coronavirus in Malaysia stays at 121, or 1.41% of overall cases, Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement.

As for the three new cases reported today, they were found in Negeri Sembilan. One was a foreign worker linked to the Pedas cluster, while two cases — a foreigner and a local — were linked to the died-at-home or MDR (mati di rumah) cluster in Sabah. They were the family members of patient no. 8506.
