Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan in hospital after testing positive for Covid-19
NEW DELHI (July 12): Veteran Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan (pictured) was admitted to hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
Amitabh tweeted on Saturday night that he was tested positive and requested those who were "in close proximity to me in the last 10 days" to get themselves tested for the coronavirus.
The 77-year-old actor's family and staff also underwent tests and his 44-year-old film star son Abhishek was found positive.
The Bachchans are being treated at Mumbai's Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital.
"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic," Abhishek said on social media on Saturday night.
Indian celebrities and politicians in online messages wished the Bachchans speedy recovery.
