KUALA LUMPUR (July 16): The High Court allowed the vacating of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s (pictured) solar graft trial today as the counsel for the defence is unwell.

Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram updated members of the press after meeting with High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan in chambers.

“The counsel for the defence is not well and has to take medical leave. The court is vacated today,” he told the press.

Sri Ram explained that the defence lawyer is the key examiner for the current witness on the stand, Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah, and since he is unwell, the prosecution has no choice but to accept the adjournment.

The next hearing for Rosmah’s solar graft trial is expected to take place in the week of Aug 3.

Rayyan is the prosecution’s 16th witness. The next hearing, which will be its 18th day, will continue with his cross-examination by the defence.

Rosmah is facing charges of soliciting RM187.5 million from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd between January and April 2016, and receiving RM5 million and RM1.5 million in 2016 and 2017, respectively.
