KUALA LUMPUR (July 17): Sime Darby Property Bhd said today its online campaigns between March 25 and July 5, 2020, had garnered more than 740 bookings for properties worth about RM680 million within the Greater Klang Valley region and Johor, a testament to the company’s successful manoeuvring in online sales tactics and strategies.

In a statement today, Sime Darby Property said the impressive numbers were achieved despite its sales galleries being closed or operating at half capacity during Malaysia's movement control order (MCO) to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Purchasers were mainly from within the Klang Valley and surrounding areas, and some were even from as far as China. Sime Darby Property’s website traffic was consistently high throughout the campaigns, averaging more than twice the usual volume," the group said.

Sime Darby Property group managing director Datuk Azmir Merican said in the statement that the successful online campaigns show that the company can embrace digitalisation and adapt to the changing operating landscape.

"Future Sime Darby Property launches will also benefit from the utilisation of online portals, now part of the digital transformation initiative aimed to revolutionise the company’s property buying process,” Azmir said.

At Bursa Malaysia today, Sime Darby Property's share price fell 2.5 sen or 3.79% to 63.5 sen at 10.23am for a market capitalisation of RM4.32 billion. The stock saw 672,500 shares traded.

Sime Darby Property's latest-reported net assets per share stood at RM1.41.
