KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): Resorts World Genting has mandated that all visitors to the tourist destination must wear face masks beginning Aug 1 in line with a government directive.

“The Malaysian government has announced that wearing face masks in crowded public areas is mandatory starting from Aug 1, 2020,” it said on its website.

Resorts World Genting said anyone who does not wear a face mask will be denied entry to the resort.

Resorts World Genting said it has also taken other precautions such as thermal scanning, contact tracing via the MySejahtera app, providing hand sanitisers and increased sanitisation of chips, cash and gaming equipment as it reopens months after the start of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 18.

At 10.20am, shares of Genting Malaysia Bhd, which owns and operates Resorts World Genting, slipped one sen or 0.44% to RM2.28, valuing the hotel and casino operator at RM12.95 billion. Around 1.15 million shares were traded.

The counter has fallen 30.7% from RM3.29 year-to-date.
