KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): The authorities have called on all those who have visited/eaten at a nasi kandar restaurant in Napoh, Jitra between July 13 and 24 to go for Covid-19 screening to make sure they are not diseased, the New Straits Times reported yesterday.

This is because six persons (non-Malaysians) were tested positive for Covid-19 there.

Earlier reports revealed that the restaurant operator was found to have gone against the 14-day quarantine order after arriving from India on July 13.

He was actually tested negative at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) after arriving, but a subsequent test by the Health Ministry revealed that he was positive.

So far, five of his close contacts also tested positive. They are now known as the Sivagangga cluster.

For not obeying the quarantine order, the restaurant operator has since been also fined RM1,000.

Kubang Pasu district police chief, Superintendan Mohd Ismail Ibrahim told NST that the restaurant has since been shuttered and he also urged “people who have been to the restaurant, together with their close contacts, to undergo Covid-19 testing immediately at nearby health facilities".
