KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 19): Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd has issued an unusual market activity (UMA) query today to Turiya Bhd on the company’s sharp rise in share price and trading volume recently.

At noon break today, shares in Turiya soared 88.89% or 16 sen to 34 sen, bringing the market value of the group to RM77.77 million.

It saw some 19.01 million shares exchanged hands, exceeding its 200-day average volume of 45,254.

In a bourse filing, the stock exchange regulator asked the company if there were any corporate developments relating to its business that had not been announced that may account for the unusual trading activity including those in the stage of negotiation or discussion. If so, Turiya needs to provide such details.

According to the company’s website, it is principally involved in the business of owning an office building and property management, investment holding and provision of management and consultancy services.
