PETALING JAYA (Aug 28): Israeli jewellery house Yvel is now working on a bejewelled face mask claimed to be the most expensive face mask in the world. Costing US$1.5 million (around RM6.27million), the face mask is scheduled to be delivered by December 31, 2020 to a Chinese billionaire.

The custom-made face mask, dubbed the Yvel Covid-19 Protective Mask, would be made of 250 grams of 18-carat pure white gold and decorated with over 3,608 natural black and white diamonds weighing a total of 210 carats.

It would also come with a high level of filtration (N-99), said the jewellery house in a media release, adding that the customer is a businessman from Shanghai who is also one of its loyal customers.

“The mask was ordered in an act of financial support to the 150 Yvel employees in Israel and the States, providing them work,” the jewellery house said.

The mask is designed by Yvel’s owners and designers Orna and Isaac Levy, a number of 25 jewelers and diamond setters are involved in the production process.

“Under no situation will it [the delivery date] be delayed. In these tumultuous days, every order we receive helps to preserve the company’s day-to-day operations and provide a way of living to its people,” said Isaac Levy.
