PETALING JAYA (Sept 8): Hundreds of Malaysians who flew back from overseas were in dilemma and stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for over 10 hours due to unclear instructions under the new ruling of barring people from 23 countries from entering Malaysia, The Star reported today.

Close to 200 Malaysian were made to wait inside the airport waiting lounges yesterday, while the ground staff including airline staff, airport personnel and immigration officers tried to sort out whether the new ruling also applied to Malaysians.

When interviewed by the English Daily, Jolene Yap, who arrived from the United Kingdom around 6.30am on Monday, said the passengers were not allowed to proceed to the immigration counters despite showing the approval letters from the High Commission of Malaysia in the UK.

Another dilemma was they were being told that there were no hotel rooms available for them to be quarantined in.

According to Yap, a list of telephone numbers of hotels was given by an officer from the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma), and the passengers were told to book their own hotels.
