KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 9): Eversendai Corporation Berhad (Eversendai) announced that it has created a world record and landmark feat in the construction industry with iconic project, the “One Za’abeel” in Dubai. One Za’abeel is a high-rise, mixed-use luxury development in Dubai.

Eversendai Corporation Bhd executive chairman and group managing director Tan Sri Datuk A K Nathan said: “I am extremely proud of our excellent team of engineers and highly skilled workforce for their dedication and commitment in lifting ‘The Link’ bridge safely and successfully, adding to another Eversendai’s achievements.”

He added that the project is part of setting the world record for the longest cantilevered building in the world. The structure connects the twin high-rise buildings; a 300 meters tall Tower A, which will comprise offices and a hotel, the world’s first vertical resort and Tower B, which will stand at 235 meters tall.

The lift that lifted part of the cantilevered portion was one of the heaviest in the Middle East with a total weight of 8,500 tonnes, was carried out over a period of three days. More than 24 heavy-duty strand jacks were used for the lifting process. A 192 meters long first section of The Link of the One Za'abeel towers had been lifted to its final position, 100 meters above ground level a few weeks ago. The second lift which will complete The Link structure to reach its final length of 230 metres will be lifted later this year.
