KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3): PLUS Malaysia Bhd has reminded highway users to strictly follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the National Security Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) of wearing face masks in public and adhering to one-meter physical distancing when congregating at Rest and Service Areas (R&R), lay-bys as well as interacting with PLUS customer service assistants (CSAs) on toll lanes.

In a statement today, PLUS said this is in view of increases in Covid-19 cases in states where PLUS' highway network operates.

PLUS managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said in the spirit of “Kita Jaga Kita”, the onus is on all to take good care of each other every step of the way.

“Every single PLUS employee, from our customer service agents, PLUSRonda officers to toll supervisors, are fully compliant with the SOPs of wearing face masks in public and maintaining a safe one-meter physical distance when interacting with customers.

“Please reciprocate by doing the same when we serve you on the highway,” he said.

He said under the new normal practices by many organisations that manage premises, which are open to the public, customers are denied entry/transactions if they do not wear face masks, and PLUS is also adopting the same.

Azman said it is extremely crucial to comply with the SOPs in ensuring the safety of customers, frontliners and everyone who enter the highway in line with the government’s directive during the pandemic.

He assured highway users that in the event of a breakdown, every PLUSRonda personnel is required to wear a face mask and practise one-metre physical distancing when attending to highway emergencies.

“From compulsory body temperature checks at each R&R and contact tracing via MySejahtera, PLUS prioritises food hygiene as well as cleanliness at all R&R premises as well as lay-bys and toll plazas via regular routine cleaning and periodical sanitisation.

“With 1.5 million vehicles plying the PLUS highways each day, it is more crucial today, with the spike in Covid-19 cases, to be more vigilant.

“PLUS will continuously monitor public places within the highway fence line, i.e. R&R and toll plazas, for the safety and comfort of its employees, customers and business partners,” said Azlan.
