KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 9): Two students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bangsar (pictured) have tested positive for the Covid-19 disease, the New Straits Times (NST) reported yesterday.

The daily revealed that the Year Five and Year Four girls contracted Covid-19 from their relatives at a kenduri recently.

However, the school is still opened as SK Bangsar Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) chairman Mohd Yazid Mohd Yasin said “there has been no directive to close the school for now”.

The school only cancelled the afternoon session after being informed about the cases.

"Until now, there has yet to be any directive to close the school. The school administration also has no authority to do so. They have to wait for further instructions from the district education office and the Health Ministry," he told a Malay daily.

Parents of students in the school are however, understandably worried.

"I was at the school just now. Many parents were concerned over the developments.

"The PTA believes that the district education office and the ministry should postponed classes temporarily, at least for a week or two, while waiting for the outcome of tests on the close contacts," Mohd Yazid said.

He added that the PTA has told parents who are worried to use “their own judgment” about sending their kids to school, but parents are required to send a written notice to the school authorities if pupils are absent.
