KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 10): Fourteen detainees held at a temporary immigration detention centre in Tawau, Sabah escaped this early this morning but seven were later recaptured, reported the Malay Mail.

Tawau is one of the districts in Sabah currently under a targeted enhanced movement control order (TEMCO) owing to its Covid-19 red zone status.

All 14 are undocumented migrants from Indonesia and the Philippines being detained pending Covid-19 test results. They are supposed to be deported later.

The other districts in Sabah under TEMCO are Semporna, Lahad Datu, and Kunak.
