PETALING JAYA (Oct 15): Mah Sing Group Bhd today announced plans to diversify into the healthcare industry via gloves manufacturing, with aims of becoming one of the top five glove producers in the country.

In today’s virtual signing ceremony with machinery, raw material supplier and customers, its CEO Datuk Ho Hon Sang shared that with an initial investment amount of RM150 million, the group will set up its first gloves manufacturing factory that comprises 12 production lines to produce up to 3.68 billion pieces of gloves per annum in Kapar, Klang.

The factory is expected to start operations gradually from April 2021 onwards.

“The first six production lines of our Kapar factory phase 1 are expected to be ready for operations as early as 2Q2021, followed by another six production lines expected to be ready by 3Q2021,” said Ho.

He added that the factory can be expanded for another 12 production lines to total 24 production lines when demand outstrips the first phase supply, bringing the factory total capacity to 7.36 billion pieces of gloves per annum.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Datuk Sri Mohd Redzuan Yusof was also present today to witness the signing ceremony.

Although the company is shifting focus to the healthcare segment, Ho stressed that the property development business will be equally important to the group.

He also reaffirmed the company’s property sales target of RM1.1 billion this year.

“We have launched three projects this year so far and the take-up is encouraging. We will be launching more landed projects in the remaining year. The total GDV will be about RM150 million,” he noted.
