Work from home order: Only public sector, industries under Miti affected by directive, others not involved, says Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): Only the public sector and industries under the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) are affected by the work-from-home order in areas under conditional movement control order (CMCO) starting tomorrow (Oct 22), Senior Minister (Defence Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pictured) clarified today.

Ismail Sabri other sectors such as the food, grocery stores and the security sector have continue to operating as usual and is therefore not affected by this order.

“Workers who are employed in the retail business, restaurants, grocery and convenience stores as well as in the plantation and agriculture sectors can work as normal.

“Police and armed forces personnel, employees of public transport companies, taxi drivers, e-hailing and delivery services are also not affected by the directive,” The Star reported him saying during a media conference today.

Ismail Sabri also said that the public service department director-general and Miti have already released “a list of those affected by the work from home directive”.

Miti announced it will only allow a maximum of 10% of workers involving accounting, finance, administration, law, planning and others to be in the office which will be limited to only four hours (10am to 2pm) for three days a week during the CMCO period.
