Cafe owner fined: Malfunctioning thermal scanner, empty bottle of hand sanitiser

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 21): A cafe owner in Sibu has been given a RM1,000 for violating anti-Covid-19 SOPs.

And what was the crime? A malfunctioning thermal scanner and an empty bottle of hand sanitiser were found in the premises.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said action was taken against the cafe owner at Jalan Wawasan for not providing a working thermal scanner and sanitiser to help stem the spread of Covid-19, reported The Star.

During the police operations at Sibu yesterday, six customers at another cafe at Jalan Sena were also fined for sitting together at a table.

The operations that took place from 6.30pm to midnight was led by Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department chief Deputy Supt Ariffin Bahar.

Up to 16 summonses were also issued to motorists for various traffic offences during the operations.
