KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran (pictured) is organising a reduced cost Covid-19 testing for all residents of Selangor and others in Malaysia.

Previously exclusive only to Bukit Gasing residents, this initiative is now open to all who are residing or working in Selangor, as well as others in Malaysia.

The RTK-AG test will now be made available at RM70 per test at participating clinics.

In an update to his earlier announcement, Rishyakaran today said the initiative has been expanded to everyone as an effort to bring down the cost of Covid-19 testing and make the test accessible to the public at large.

“In addition, B40 category Bukit Gasing residents who are registered under BPN are able to get themselves tested at a subsidised rate of RM30 per person.

“To register for this Covid-19 test, share your details — name, address, IC number and contact number — via WhatsApp to 016 306 4104.

“Testing will be done by appointment only and details of the appointment will be shared upon successful registration. Interested parties may also call 016 306 4104 for enquiries,” he said.

Rishyakaran said participating clinics are currently located in Petaling Jaya (PJ), but declined to reveal the clinics’ names to avoid people crowding the clinics.

“They must set an appointment with us to get tested. We have two clinics so far but we are talking to more.

“Should there be clinics, either locally or from other states, interested to join this initiative, they can contact us and we would be willing to include them in so that people do not have to travel from other states.

“For those who already have work pass/travel pass to travel to PJ, if they wish to get tested in PJ, they may register with us,” he said.

Rishyakaran said his office has procured the exact same RTK-AG kits from the same vendor as the Ministry of Health (MoH) and is providing these kits to participating clinics.

“We have negotiated a decent bulk price and thus are able to offer the test to the public at RM70 without subsidy.

“The doctors conducting the Covid-19 screening with the RTK-AG kits are MoH certified to conduct the test. We are still looking at possibly bringing the price down lower if and where possible,” he said.
