PETALING JAYA (Nov 29): A narrow lane at Barangay Mabolo in Cebu City, Philippines was crowded with Foodpanda riders delivering the same chicken fillets to one customer when an internet glitch caused her to unwittingly book the order 42 times.

The seven-year-old girl was supposed to order the meal online for herself and her grandmother as her parents were at work, reported the World of Buzz yesterday, citing a report from Sunstar.

It was not her first time and previous orders had been done without a hitch, said her neighbour, Dann Kayne Suarez, who posted about the incident on his Facebook page.

However, in the 11am incident last Wednesday, the app got hanged during her purchase due to a slow internet connection, so she tapped the order menu repeatedly, causing a glitch whereby 42 orders were captured.

When the riders all arrived at about the same time, the girl was shocked and broke into tears. She had enough money only to pay for one meal of the chicken with rice and fries, which costs about RM16.

Fortunately, her neighbours, alerted by the commotion, helped buy up boxes of the meal from the riders directly to reduce the whopping RM672 total bill.

However, not all meals were taken up and some riders brought the orders back to the restaurant.
