Rosmah graft trial: Prosecution closes case, offers 10 witnesses to defence

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11): The prosecution of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor's (pictured) solar graft trial has closed its case after more than 20 witnesses testified during 33 days of hearing at the High Court.

The prosecution is now offering 10 other witnesses in its list to the defence, senior deputy public prosecutor Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram said today.

At the top of the list is former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is also Rosmah's husband.

Rosmah is accused of soliciting RM187.5 million from Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd between 2016 and 2017 to help the firm secure a RM1.25 billion project to supply solar hybrid power to 369 schools in Sarawak.

She is also accused of receiving RM5 million and another RM1.5 million in 2016 and 2017 respectively to ensure Jepak secured the contract.

Rosmah was represented by lawyers Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, Datuk Jagjit Singh and Azrul Zulkifli Stork.

The trial began in February and went on to hear testimonies from 23 witnesses brought by the prosecution.

The witnesses included Jepak managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin and his business partner Rayyan Radzwill Abdullah.

Others included former education minister Datuk Seri Khalid Mahdzir, the ministry's secretary general at the time Tan Sri Madinah Mohamed, and Rosmah's former aide Datuk Rizal Mansor.

Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan has set Dec 28 for written submissions to be filed by the defence, while replies by the prosecution are required to be submitted by Jan 4. The next hearing date is Feb 10.
