MELAKA (Dec 17): Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali is of the opinion that “spiritual tours” are more apt for the state rather than paranormal or ghost tours that have been proposed by some quarters, The Star reported today.

“We can look into selling these spiritual travel packages to global markets covering all religious groups” and that such tours “would be more relevant to a multicultural state like Melaka”, he told the daily.

“Melaka has been a melting pot for various ethnic groups since time immemorial, and we will continue to preserve it,” he added.

Melaka is well known for having many historic places of worship such as old mosques, churches, temples and “even a famous gurdwara”.

The ghost tours have been suggested in light of reports about ghostly “loud knocks” at night on the doors of homes of numerous residents in Pahang and Melaka.

Sulaiman urged “locals not to believe in such superstitions” about ghosts.
