KUCHING (Jan 26): Sarawak health director Dr Chin Zin Hing revealed that a total of 53 medical personnel from four hospitals in the state have tested positive for Covid-19, reported Dayak Daily.
Among the medical staff who were infected, 28 cases are from Sibu Hospital.
According to the report, the Miri Hospital is also in an alarming stage as there were 21 medical staff infected by Covid-19.
The increasing number of infected cases also puts pressure on the manpower of the hospital as once these medical staff are confirmed positive, contact tracing will start immediately and people who have close contact with them will be quarantined.
For instance, as of Jan 22, close to 200 hospital staff in Miri hospital have been quarantined to curb the spread of the Covid-19, and this has caused severe shortage of medical personnel in the hospital.
