KEDAH (Feb 9): After operating for almost 15 years, BDB Hotels located in Bandar Darulaman, Jitra, Kedah will change its operations from a hotel to serviced apartments when its operating license ends.

However, the company did not reveal the date of cessation of the operating license.

Bina Darulaman Berhad Group (BDB) chief operating officer and vice-president 2 Mohd Sobri Hussein said the change of operation model is an initiative to weather the current challenges faced by the hospitality industry due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Previously, BDB Hotels offered accommodation rooms and chalets to our customers but this new concept will see 72 apartments being opened for sale or rented to the public who are interested to buy and lease them out,” he said in a statement today.

BDB Hotels began operations in 2006 by offering over 100 guest rooms and chalets. In addition, it also provided a meeting hall that can accommodate up to 300 participants at the same time as well as a spacious swimming pool for guests.

Mohd Sobri added that the change in the concept will not affect the employees of BDB Hotels where they will be housed in other BDB subsidiaries to ensure their welfare is not affected.

“BDB Group also hopes that this plan can be implemented smoothly and it is hoped that it will benefit the entire company as well as the employees,” he said.
