KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 18): It looks like even Malaysia has its own brand of gun violence. A senior citizen from Taman Ulu Choh, Iskandar Puteri, Johor has been held by the police after it was found that he was taking pot shots at his neighbour’s car with a home-made air gun, the Malay Mail reported yesterday.

Iskandar Puteri police chief Assistant Commissioner Dzulkhairi Mukhtar told the news portal that cops found and confiscated two home-made air guns and three marbles when the 63-year-old suspect’s home was raided at about 5.30pm yesterday.

“The victim was earlier driving his Perodua Myvi around Taman Ulu Choh and was heading towards Jalan Senduduk when he felt a round hit his car, which subsequently left behind a dent.

“The victim suspected that the shot had come from one of the houses in the residential area,” Dzulkhairi said. The victim then reported the incident to the police.

Dzulkhairi added that the senior citizen was not happy about the victim’s car as it “emitted loud noises that disturbed the peace”.

Malay Mail also reported that the alleged shooter “is thought to have learned how to make the air guns from watching YouTube”.

“The suspect has been remanded for five days starting today (yesterday),” said Dzulkhairi.
