PETALING JAYA (Feb 24): Sarawak Property developers have called on the Federal government to come up with “a clear and transparent exit plan or road map” as the authorities roll out their immunisation effort, FMT News reported today.

“We already have the vaccines, so what we [businesses] need now is a clear and transparent exit plan or road map.

“Otherwise, it will be difficult for any investor or business to do much,” Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association vice-president, Sim Kiang Chiok, was reported by the news portal as saying in a statement.

Sim said that the association hopes that Malaysia’s borders can be reopened in the third quarter of the year if herd immunity can be reached by then.

According to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, herd immunity is achieved when most of a population is immune to an infectious disease, and this provides indirect protection, or herd immunity (also called herd protection), to those who are not immune to the disease.

Sim also urged the government to continue assisting businesses through the extension of wage subsidies and automatic loan moratoriums.
