KUALA LUMPUR (March 2): CB Industrial Product Holdings Bhd (CBIP) said today its wholly-owned PalmitEco Engineering Sdn Bhd (PESB) has shut its manufacturing facility in Selangor until March 11, after 45 of its employees tested positive for Covid-19.

The 14-day temporary closure of the manufacturing facility in Telok Panglima Garang started on Feb 26, according to CBIP in a bourse filing.

The 45 Covid-19 positive cases were detected when PESB screened all its employees, both local and foreign, at the said manufacturing facility recently.

The temporary closure is for disinfection and sanitisation of the affected premises to be carried out, said CBIP. “PESB will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and health of all its employees,” it added.

The temporary work stoppage is not expected to have a significant impact on its revenue and earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2021, said CBIP.

“The company will continue to adhere to standard operating procedures recommended by the authorities on a stringent basis. The company’s manufacturing facilities at other locations are unaffected and are operating as normal,” it added.

CBIP’s shares closed one sen or 0.87% higher at RM1.16 today, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM582.03 million.
