KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported 1,116 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing total infections to 334,156.

In a statement, health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five more deaths due to the pandemic were confirmed, raising the national death toll to 1,238.

Active cases which carry high transmission risks dropped to 14,134 — the fifth consecutive day of staying below the 15,000 mark — as new recoveries came in higher than new infections today at 1,495.

Total recoveries now stand at 318,784 or 95.4% of overall infections in the country, according to Dr Noor Hisham’s statement.

Selangor topped the list with most new infections at 403, pushing the state’s tally to 112,309.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (158), Sarawak (124), Penang (88), Johor (86), Kelantan (44), Pahang (42), Negeri Sembilan (41), Perak (39), Sabah (36), Kedah (27), Melaka (12), Labuan (eight), Putrajaya (five), and Terengganu (three).

As for the five fatalities, one each was reported in Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang, Penang and Kuala Lumpur respectively. The deceased were aged between 44 and 84 years.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said 10 more Covid-19 clusters have been identified by the ministry, bringing the current number of active clusters to 411.

The 10 new clusters comprise eight workplace clusters and two community clusters.

The eight workplace clusters are the Jalan Helang cluster in Selangor with 13 infections; the Tapak Bina Jalan Usahawan cluster in Kuala Lumpur with 73 infections; the Taman Tunku cluster in Kuala Lumpur (seven); the Jalan Tenteram cluster in Johor (10); the Batu 22 cluster in Johor (13); the Jalan Gambang cluster in Pahang (24); the Permata cluster in Negeri Sembilan (28); and the Jalan Kemajuan cluster in Labuan (nine).

The community clusters are the Rajang cluster in Sarawak (29 cases) and the Jalan Belimbing cluster in Johor (10).

So far, 1,307 clusters have been reported by the ministry, while 896 have been declared ended.
