KUALA LUMPUR (April 23): Petroliam Nasional Bhd's (Petronas) former president and chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican had retired as Sembcorp Industries Ltd's independent and non-executive director following a rotation based on energy firm Sembcorp Industries constitution following the conclusion of the firm’s annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday.

Singapore-listed Sembcorp Industries, which is also a property developer, said in a bourse filing yesterday that Mohd Hassan, 68, “retired by rotation under article 94 of the company’s constitution at the 23rd AGM of the company held on April 22, 2021".

Sembcorp Industries said Mohd Hassan was appointed as Sembcorp Industries independent and non-executive director on June 16, 2010.

According to online reports, Mohd Hassan was Petronas president and CEO between February 1995 and February 2010.

According to Sembcorp Industries’ website, the company has a balanced energy portfolio of over 12,700MW, which includes more than 3,200MW of renewable energy capacity comprising solar, wind and energy storage globally.

"The company also has a proven track record of transforming raw land into sustainable urban developments, with a project portfolio spanning over 11,000 hectares across Asia,” Sembcorp Industries claimed.
