Slight drop in Covid-19 vaccine jabs on June 20 with 140,573 doses administered

KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): Malaysia administered 140,573 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday (June 20), a decline from the previous day's 164,282, according to latest data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV).

Of this, 116,514 individuals received their first dose yesterday, while the other 24,059 received their second jab.

In total, 5.82 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far, with 1.61 million people fully vaccinated.

Kuala Lumpur remained as the state with the highest number of first doses administered at 724,684 as of yesterday, followed by Selangor (642,249), Sarawak (610,485) and Johor (377,190).

Meanwhile, Selangor has so far recorded 208,031 individuals completing their two-dose vaccination, followed by Sarawak (186,008), Johor (167,469) and Perak (150,200).

Yesterday, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the third phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in the Klang Valley will begin today at the National Stadium vaccination centre (PPV) in Bukit Jalil here.

He said individuals who had registered to get vaccinated from Feb 23 will get their appointment date today for vaccination at the National Stadium PPV.

In March, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba reportedly said that vaccination under Phase 3, involving those aged 18 and above, will be from May 2021 to February 2022.

Malaysia recorded 5,293 Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing total infections in the country to 696,408.

A total of 60 Covid-19-related deaths were reported, raising total fatalities to 4,408.
