KUALA LUMPUR (July 16): Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) imposed on all 34 sub-districts in Selangor will be lifted at midnight tonight.

In a statement, he said the National Security Council (NSC) has agreed to not extend the EMCO in Selangor, following a session with the Ministry of Health.

Meanwhile, several other EMCO localities are scheduled to end on July 17, namely Kilang Jimat Jaya Sdn Bhd, Bukit Makmur Light Industrial Area and worker hostels in Kuala Muda, Kedah; Kampung Pantai Emas, Kampung Iban Kuala Nansang and Kampung Babagon in Sabah; and Taman Nagasari in Pulau Pinang.

The EMCO in Taman Desaria, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan will end on July 18.

On the other hand, the government will be enforcing EMCO from July 18 to 31 at 13 localities in Kuantan, and Taman Chengal in Temerloh, Pahang, as well as four localities in Selangor, namely Damai Apartment in Damansara, Jalan Pandan Indah in Hulu Langat, Jalan Batu Nilam in Klang, and Taman Samudera in Gombak.

In Sabah, EMCO will be enforced at KLK Lungmanis plantation and factory housing in Lahad Datu, Kampung Pinolobuh Bukid in Kota Belud, and PPR Taman Ehsan in Kudat.

The EMCO at Kampung Siasai Dundau in Kota Belud and Kampung Naruntung in Pitas, Sabah will be extended to July 31.

The DPM said the government has increased overall enforcement for factories and business premises, amid an increase in incidents whereby standard operating procedures (SOPs) are not adhered to.

He said the Compliance Operations Task Force yesterday conducted 84,976 Covid-19 snap checks nationwide, including 2,309 factories, 14,237 business premises, 833 construction sites and 322 worker hostels.

A total of 65 premises, which included factories, business premises and construction sites, were ordered to cease operations due to non-compliance with the SOPs.

Meanwhile, 673 more individuals coming into Malaysia have been quarantined at quarantine stations nationwide, bringing the total number of individuals returning to Malaysia who have been quarantined since July 24 to 249,548.

Of that, 3,271 individuals have been sent to hospitals, while 8,988 individuals are now under quarantine; while 237,289 individuals have been allowed to return home.
