PETALING JAYA (July 20): A 33-year-old man who was caught hurling abusive words to several individuals after being told to wear a mask at a nasi lemak stall has been caught by the police, reported Free Malaysia Today.

The incident took place at a nasi lemak stall on Jalan Desa Bakti in Taman Desa, Kuala Lumpur, on July 18.

According to the report, quoting Brickfields district police chief Anuar Omar, the man was being remanded at the Brickfields district police station.

The video of the man berating the stall owner and another regular customer has gone viral. Docking a black singlet and shorts, the man, who didn’t wear a face mask, showed up at the nasi lemak stall to order some food at about 10.30am.

The stall owner reminded him to put on a face mask and comply with the SOP. However, the man shouted back at her: ‘Who the hell are you? You sell nasi lemak, just do your job’.

The stall owner and her daughter were shocked by his reaction and the man continued to abuse them.

In a statement today, Brickfields deputy police chief Basri Sagoni said the case was being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021 for failing to comply with Covid-19 SOPs.
