Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered rose to 483,368 on Aug 3, over 22 million cumulative jabs given thus far

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 4): Malaysia administered 483,368 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday (Aug 3), up from 468,526 jabs on the previous day.

A total of 240,394 individuals received their first dose yesterday, while the remaining 242,974 were second shots, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Cumulatively, 22.15 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday.

A total of 14.71 million people or 44.96% of the nation’s population had received at least their first jab, including 7.44 million or 22.74% who were fully inoculated.

Johor was the state with the highest number of first shots administered yesterday at 38,356, followed by Sabah (35,277), Perak (26,116), Selangor (25,483) and Pahang (23,109).

Meanwhile, Selangor recorded the highest number of second doses administered at 72,670, followed by Kuala Lumpur (43,947), Sarawak (21,741), Negeri Sembilan (16,942) and Kedah (16,135).

The country's new Covid-19 cases rose to 17,105 yesterday, up from 15,764 the day before, bringing total infections so far to 1.16 million.

Meanwhile, 195 Covid-19-related deaths were reported yesterday, bringing cumulative fatalities to 9,598.
