Nearly 50% of adult population in Klang Valley fully inoculated against Covid-19 as of Aug 6 — JKJAV

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 7): A total of 2.94 million people or 47.7% of the adult population in the Klang Valley had received their two-dose vaccination, meaning they were fully inoculated as of yesterday (Aug 6).

Meanwhile, a total of 6.14 million people or 99.6% of the adult population in the three states — Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya — had received at least their first dose.

Cumulatively, 23.61 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered across the nation.

Out of the total, 15.35 million people or 47% of the nation’s population had received at least one dose of the vaccine, including 8.26 million people or 25.3% who were fully inoculated, according to the latest updates on Twitter by the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

As for the daily numbers, 447,035 vaccine doses were administered yesterday, down 13.14% from 514,674 the day before.

Consequently, the seven-day moving average of daily doses also fell to 486,721 from 496,016 previously.

Johor remained as the state with the highest number of first doses administered at 37,452 yesterday, followed by Sabah (33,279) and Selangor (26,616).

For second doses, Selangor led the country with 81,688 jabs yesterday, followed by Kuala Lumpur (49,029) and Sarawak (20,605).

Malaysia reported another record high of new Covid-19 cases yesterday as daily infections climbed further to 20,889 — from 20,596 a day earlier — marking two straight days of the figure staying above the 20,000 mark.

Active cases climbed to a new high of 221,396 as daily infections continued to outpace 16,394 recoveries.

Selangor continued to report more than 8,000 cases per day for the third consecutive day at 8,792. Other states that reported new infections in four digits were Kuala Lumpur (2,483), Kedah (1,371), Sabah (1,291) and Johor (1,275).

The country’s cumulative confirmed Covid-19 infections stood at 1.22 million as of yesterday.
