PETALING JAYA (Aug 11): Tremors that shook buildings were felt in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya owing to an earthquake in Indonesia, The Star reported today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department announced that the epicentre of the quake was 18km southeast of Padang Sidempuan, Indonesia. It measured 5.6 on the Richter scale and occurred at 1.19pm.

The department said there was no threat of a tsunami to Malaysia.
