Dewan Rakyat Speaker asks MPs for declarations on PM choice
KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17): Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun issued a notice today, requesting Member of Parliament (MP) to submit a letter stating their choice of candidate to be the country's next prime minister, news portal Malaysiakinireported today.
According to the notice, the declarations should be submitted to the national palace by tomorrow at 4pm. The move comes after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stepped down as the premier yesterday.
The notice, written by the Speaker of Dewan Rakyat, is following the order of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who implemented Article 43(2)(a) in the Federal Constitution.
