Palace says new PM must face confidence vote

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): The new prime minister set to be chosen soon must still seek a vote of confidence as soon as possible, Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin announced today.

According to a report by Malaysiakini, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah made the decree to fulfil Article 40(2)(a) and 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.

Ahmad Fadil added that the Agong will exercise his constitutional duty to the best of His Majesty's ability in determining the next premier.
