KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered fell to 227,476 yesterday (Sept 12) from 258,929 the day before.

Of this, 76,346 individuals received their first shot, while the remaining 151,130 received their second jab, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Cumulatively, 38.49 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered as of yesterday.

A total of 21.37 million people or 65.4% of the nation’s population had received at least their first dose, including 17.18 million or 52.6% who were fully inoculated.

Nearly seven million individuals or 83.1% of the total population of the Klang Valley — comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur — had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

Among them, 6.24 million people or 74.1% of the Klang Valley's population were fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Sarawak was the state with the highest number of first doses administered at 12,697 yesterday, followed by Johor (11,109), Pahang (11,012), Perak (9,351) and Sabah (7,557).

For second doses, Johor topped the list at 31,853, followed by Kuala Lumpur (22,623), Sabah (18,659), Selangor (17,686) and Kedah (13,629).

A total of 19,198 new Covid-19 cases were reported yesterday, bringing cumulative infections in the country to 1.98 million.

On the same day, 292 more deaths were reported, raising the nation's death toll linked to the coronavirus to 20,711.
