Malaysia administered 329,163 Covid-19 vaccine doses on Sept 30

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Malaysia administered 329,163 Covid-19 vaccine doses nationwide on Thursday (Sept 30), the fourth straight day the daily figure stayed above the 300,000 mark, but down from 338,661 on Wednesday.

Of the latest doses administered on Thursday, 167,443 were given to individuals receiving their first dose, while the remaining 161,720 were second jabs, according to the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) COVIDNOW website.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered nationwide as of Thursday stood at 43,696,743.

A total of 23,540,977 individuals or 72.1% of the nation’s population had received at least their first dose, including 20,255,398 recipients or 62% who had completed their two-dose vaccination.

In terms of the country's adult population, 94.2% had received at least their first shot, including 86.3% who were fully inoculated against the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, 1,498,274 individuals aged 12 to 17 or 47.6% of adolescents in Malaysia had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, including 52,774 of them or 1.7% of adolescents who were fully vaccinated.

For the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, 7,334,125 people or 87.1% of its population had been administered at least their first shot, including 6,838,511 persons or 81.2% who had completed their two-dose vaccination.

On Thursday, Johor administered the highest daily number of first shots with 20,602 doses, followed by Selangor (19,928), Kedah (15,815) and Kelantan (14,814).

As for second jabs, Johor also led with 22,994 doses, followed by Perak (21,964), Kedah (20,054) and Penang (15,751).

Malaysia recorded 12,735 more Covid-19 cases on Thursday, raising the nation’s cumulative Covid-19 infections to 2,245,695.

Meanwhile, 192 more Covid-19-related fatalities were reported, bringing the country’s total deaths linked to the pandemic to 26,335.
