Malaysia's new Covid-19 cases rise to 9,890 on Oct 7 from 9,380 a day earlier

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Malaysia's newly confirmed Covid-19 cases climbed to 9,890 on Thursday (Oct 7) from 9,380 on Wednesday (Oct 6) after states including Selangor and Sabah reported higher numbers of fresh infections.

Health director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a post on Facebook that Thursday's newly confirmed Covid-19 infected individuals brought the nation's cumulative number of pandemic cases to 2.31 million so far.

Among states and federal territories, Selangor's daily number of new pandemic cases rose to 1,402 on Thursday from 1,116 on Wednesday while Sabah's figure was higher at 820 compared with 790, according to Dr Noor Hisham.

Elsewhere, Perlis' daily figure of new pandemic cases rose to 200 on Thursday from 42 on Wednesday while Kuala Lumpur's number climbed to 250 from 214, he said.

Meanwhile, Putrajaya recorded 59 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday compared with 18 on Wednesday while Labuan reported no new cases on Thursday compared with eight on Wednesday, he said.

Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan are federal territories in Malaysia.
