KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): The Health Ministry has recommended the same type of vaccine as booster shot for recipients of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

In a series of tweets, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (pictured) said the ministry’s expert committee has recommended to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) to proceed with the heterologous vaccinations.

“For Pfizer recipients you will be recommended a homologous booster i.e. a Pfizer third dose after six months of your second dose.

“For Sinovac recipients, you will be recommended a Pfizer booster three months after your second dose. We are now starting with frontliners and older folks,” said Khairy.

Meanwhile, he said the ministry will be announcing further details soon for AstraZeneca (AZ) recipients to receive their booster and also for other choices for booster shots, e.g. people with allergies and cannot take the mRNA vaccine may be offered Sinovac or AZ for their booster.
