KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 15): Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya has been appointed the new chairman of Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), succeeding Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim who is now the federal territories minister.

In a statement on Monday (Nov 15), PR1MA said his appointment was effective last Friday.

“I would like to congratulate Datuk Dr Fathul Bari on his appointment as the new chairman of PR1MA. 

“With this appointment, we at PR1MA are confident and optimistic that Datuk Dr Fathul Bari will drive the development of PR1MA, which is currently on a solid foundation, in line with its mandated mission of providing affordable and and high-quality housing for middle-income Malaysians,” said PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nazri Md Sharif.

According to PR1MA, Dr Fathul Bari holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the field of Hadith from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

He also has extensive experience in the corporate sector among which is as the Malaysia Middle East Chamber of Commerce (MyMEC) chairman since 2017, Prime Care Medical Centre executive chairman since 2021, Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) zakat management committee member since 2020, National Higher Education Fund Corp (PTPTN) management board member since 2020 as well as various involvement in social and community activities, said PR1MA.

Most recently, he was appointed the chairman of the International Khayr Ummah Foundation (IKAF).
