PETALING JAYA (Dec 7): Phase 2 of IOI City Mall (ICM) has been scheduled to open by June 2022, according to IOI Properties Group Berhad (IOIPG), chief executive officer Datuk Voon Tin Yow.

Located at IOI Resort City in Putrajaya, ICM will be Malaysia’s biggest entertainment shopping mall with a total net lettable area of 2.5 million sq ft as the Phase 2 will bring in another one million sq ft of tenanted space which will include 40,000 sq ft foot exhibition hall, a new cinema concept with IMAX hall, a modern dining arcade and new rooftop sports centre and gymnasium, according to New Straits Times.

RM500 million has been invested by IOIPG for the Phase 2 extension.

In October 2020, IOIPG commemorated the completion of the mall’s structural work with the topping out of Phase 2.

Construction works on Phase 2 first began in 2018 and had progressed well despite the various lockdowns to battle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Voon said that ICM supports the group’s accomplishment in the retail market.

According to him, ICM has a diverse clientele of local and international brands that offer a mixed range of products and services across fashion, household, lifestyle and cuisines.

“We are pleased to inform you that despite the unpredictable worldwide scenario of the past few years, we have managed to secure around 70% tenants for the new phase,” said Voon in a statement cited by New Straits Times.
