KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): The Ministry of Housing and Local Government does not impose certain conditions, including the determination of race, when implementing affordable government housing projects, said its Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Abd Muttalib.

He said the focus is on the people who are eligible to own affordable housing, including the bottom 40% income group (B40).

“Actually, when we implement government housing projects, affordable homes, we do not put specific conditions to owning a house.

“Our focus is on citizens who are under the B40 group and [for] those who are eligible, we will make them an offer as well as other housing projects,” he said during a question-and-answer session in the Dewan Negara here on Tuesday (Dec 14).

He said this in a reply to Senator Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai regarding the rules and methods of implementation used by the ministry to promote unity and the involvement of every race in all affordable home projects.

Ismail said housing projects under PR1MA Corp Malaysia and Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) do not put any specific conditions to owning an affordable home, especially for the B40 group, to ensure that the need for housing is solved.
