KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 20): Tropicana Corp Bhd has redesignated its independent director and former inspector-general of police (IGP), Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun, as its chairman effective Wednesday (Jan 19).

The property developer said Fuzi, 62, is replacing Top Glove Corp Bhd founder and chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai, who resigned from the Tropicana chairman post on Jan 11.

Tropicana, in a Bursa Malaysia filing, noted that the ex-IGP is also currently the chairman of Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd.

The former top cop was appointed to Tropicana's board in October 2020.

Shares in Tropicana settled one sen or 0.94% lower at RM1.05, giving the group a market value of RM1.55 billion.
