It was back in 1997 when Datuk Seri Ng Thien Phing founded NTP World Forum as a corporate training provider with some of the best clientele in the country. Driven by a bigger vision, Ng subsequently started NTP World Group with diversified business interests in training & education, IT rental & solutions and property investment.
In 2008, he decided to embark on the property development business with the establishment of NTP World Development Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of NTP World Group. For the next five years, NTP World underwent a series of corporate exercises, which included the acquisition of a 40-acre site in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, and then another 13 acres of quality land, also in the country’s capital city.
The rest is history.
Having established a reputation for quality high-rise residences, SkyWorld is set to bring its pursuit of excellence to greater heights. Besides offering innovative, location-centric projects with various facilities and amenities, another important aspect is the quality assurance to its homebuyers and investors. Hence, in 2018, the group invested some RM3.8 million in the SkyWorld Quality Centre, the first of its kind in Malaysia, to further uphold its commitment to delivering outstanding products.
The Quality Centre is also used as a training ground for SkyWorld staffs as well as a sharing hub for its consultants and engineers, university students, prospective homebuyers and also for the public who want to know more about the various aspects of construction quality. Such are the ambition and knowledge the developer hopes to contribute to the community and property development industry.
Additionally, SkyWorld has pledged that all its projects will be certified with Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC). QLASSIC is a system or method to measure and evaluate the workmanship quality of a building construction work based on Construction Industry Standard (CIS 7:2006). QLASSIC also enables the quality of workmanship between construction projects to be objectively compared through a scoring system.
“SkyWorld has proven our quality commitment by achieving the highest QLASSIC scores for our projects in Malaysia. For instance, in year 2020, SkyLuxe On The Park has achieved an 85% score in the high-rise residential category whereas SkyAwani2 Residences has scored 79% in the Residensi Wilayah category,” says SkyWorld CEO Lee Chee Seng, adding that all SkyWorld developments are underpinned by three key strengths – Value Creation, Innovation and Sky Living Experience.
Quality the cornerstone
Lee adds that SkyWorld is always committed to delivering its projects on time to its homebuyers, who have trusted the developer with their hard-earned life savings.
“We understand that purchasing a home is no small feat. It is a major investment decision that requires a serious financial commitment. We also believe some can afford to purchase only one house in their entire lifetimes. Therefore, it is important to us to deliver a good-quality house to our homebuyers. SkyWorld believes quality is the key differentiator, hence we always uphold quality as the cornerstone of our brand so that our buyers can enjoy their homes for generations to come,” Lee stresses.
At EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed & Sustainable Property Awards 2020, Ascenda Residence, which was the developer’s first project in the country and part of the 28-acre SkyArena mixed development in Setapak, was a Bronze winner in the below-10-years multi-own strata residential category.
The best practices at work start internally at SkyWorld, where all ’SkyRians’ strongly uphold three core values – Dare to Lead, Let’s Talk and Get it Done.
“We always believe in staying lean and focused on our strength. As a city developer, all our developments are within KL, so there is an ease for authority approval and requirements.
“We also prioritise on remaining relevant with the times. We have a group-wide digitalisation drive (robotic process in repetitive manual work), which includes performing e-documentation and e-approval, lead and booking system automation as well as system-generated reports,” Lee adds.
Last but not least, SkyWorld also believes that delegation and empowerment at the workplace will ultimately drive the success of the company, as its biggest asset remains is staff strength.
“We want to build leaders in SkyWorld. Here, we clearly define the responsibility and accountability of each individual and we always communicate closely via daily huddles, weekly team meetings and monthly workshops so that everyone is aligned to the company’s goals and achieve them together as a team. Everyone has a part to contribute and we are all in this together,” Lee emphasises.
